Voting , An authority or Responsibility

Faith is a big thing. It can make mountains move, rebuild cities, rehabilitate people and transform obstacles into opportunities. However, the lack of it can be a catastrophe and stagnate the life's of people.Mumbai is going through a similar experience these days.

The 26/11 strike has shattered the trust of the people and Mumbaikars have lost their faith in ruling and the opposition party. The fact that 1500 people from the Tulsiwadi locality in Tardeo exercised the 49-O option(None of the above), restates the fact that people perhaps realise that political parties will campaign wholeheartedly and will go for a hibernate for five years once the elections are over.

A lot of people/Activist/Change makers think that we must vote and the deserving candidate should win. The argument in completely rational and a majority of people should buy it. However if we compare the same question with a practical illustration it might give us a different perspective or point of view to think about.

You must have read a lot of books on the art of positive thinking and a lot of writers /philosophers lay emphasis on the art of positive thinking. They illustrate the example of a glass of water, which is " half filled" and "half empty". A Optimist will focus on the fact that the glass is half filled and will try to maximize its usage. On the other hand, a pessimist will complain that the glass is half empty and will keep on cribbing about it. But what if " the half filled water is dirty or polluted ? "

Th fact is that the answer to the most complex questions of our life is neither white nor black. It is grey. Thus it important that we ask the Right questions to get the right answers. Thus the choice is not between " to vote" or "not vote". The question is to whom "should we vote". I hope Mumbai gets a leader who can change the face of its politics, change their perspective and reinstate their faith in democracy. Because the lack of faith of the Mumbaikars in democracy will submerge them into negativity.
